Athletics

Laurentian University has a beautiful, natural setting and some of the finest recreational and competitive venues in Ontario.

The recreational facilities and activities are managed by the Department of Active Living under the auspices of the Division of Physical Education. Although the Laurentian University Community is the primary user, the communities of the Sudbury Region, Northeastern Ontario, and beyond are welcome to participate at the Physical Education Centre.

Voyageur Athletics is home to Laurentian University's ten varsity teams including men's and women's basketball, nordic skiing, soccer, swimming, men's golf and women's cross country running. All of these ten teams compete in the OUA (Ontario University Athletics) conference and/or the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport).

The Laurentian varsity team nicknames are Voyageurs for the men's teams and Lady Vees for the women's teams with all ten teams sporting the schools traditional blue and gold colours.

The Intramural Recreational Sports Program as sponsored by the Department of Active Living is designed to provide a varied competitive recreational activity program for all male and female students of the University.  The emphasis is on participation as opposed to winning.
