SPAD awards an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Administration) degree. It is a limited enrollment (40/year), four-year interdisciplinary professional degree that combines an extensive exposure to the functional areas of business with a practical and theoretical exposure to the sport business.

The key aspects of the SPAD program that continue to attract students are (i) the 8-month internship in a progressive position with a sport organization, (ii) the annual Field Trip, and (iii) the fact that each graduate obtains an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree with the requisite business skills required by industry today.

SPAD Mission, Vision and Goals

35 years since its birth, SPAD’s vision is – before its 40th birthday - to build upon its valued brand to become a comprehensive school of sports administration, where a burgeoning research capacity will complement its applied teaching/industry focus.

The mission of the School of Sports Administration (SPAD) is to provide SPAD students with a high quality programme that is a unique blend of business theory and practice, sport management theory, and practical experiences in sport management.

In pursuing its vision and mission, SPAD has established a number of relevant objectives:

  1. SPAD is committed to providing students with many opportunities to work with organizations in applied settings, including internships, independent projects, field trips, consulting and field research.
  2. SPAD provides sports administration services to the public and private sectors of the Sport Industry community.
  3. SPAD faculty, students and alumni are engaged with their industry.
  4. SPAD faculty members and SPAD students focus on practically oriented research problems and disseminating the knowledge gained to the sport community.
  5. SPAD seeks to maintain close contact with the 800+ SPAD alumni and the sport community.
  6. SPAD is committed to maintaining its focus on the above objectives, while beginning the process of building an academic research component to the School, including a graduate program, and a vibrant research environment.

The School of Sports Administration faculty and students are privileged to have Dr. Ann Pegoraro on board as a primary researcher who will lead studies in niche areas of marketing and sports administration.
