Cambrian College and Laurentian University Sign Articulation Agreements for Seamless Education

Laurentian University and Cambrian College signed agreements today that reinforce their commitment to the diverse needs of learners and employers. Through the agreements, students will be able to fast-track the completion of diplomas and degrees in specific programs, gain additional education and skills, and enhance their career opportunities.

 

Laurentian University President, Dominic Giroux, Cambrian College President, Sylvia Barnard, Huntington University President, Dr. Kevin McCormick, and Thorneloe University President, Reverend Robert A. Derrenbacker, PhD participated in the signing ceremony, lending their support to Cambrian and Laurentian’s long-standing educational partnership.

 

“Through this partnership, Cambrian and Laurentian have developed transfer pathways that enable students to gain practical and theoretical education in a timely, and cost-effective manner,” said Cambrian President Sylvia Barnard.  “It is a partnership that enriches the educational landscape in the North by providing the very best educational opportunities possible to a diverse student population that includes recent high school graduates and those who are upgrading their educational credentials to advance in their careers.”

 

During the signing ceremony, Cambrian and Laurentian signed an over-arching agreement that guides the relationship between the two institutions. In addition four specific program-level agreements were renewed and one new agreement introduced:

·    Communication Studies – through the renewal of three separate Communications Studies agreements, students in Cambrian’s Public Relations, Graphic Design, Journalism, and Advertising programs will be able to fast-track completion of a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Laurentian University. Graduates of Laurentian’s Communication Studies program will be granted advanced standing in Cambrian College’s related diploma programs.

·    Fine Arts – through the renewal of this agreement, students in Cambrian’s Theatre Arts- Technical Production program will be able to fast-track completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Laurentian University. Conversely, Laurentian students working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts who want to pursue a specialized course of study in theatre production will be able to take courses at Cambrian College that will be count toward their degree.

·    Labour Studies – through this new agreement, graduates of Cambrian College’s Human Resources Management graduate certificate program will receive up to 12 university credits towards a Bachelor of Arts, with a Labour Studies specialization.

Current and prospective students are invited to explore the expanded educational opportunities provided by these agreements. Specific academic requirements for entrance or transfer into any program are available online or by visiting the Registrar’s office at Cambrian College or Laurentian University.
